Home-Based Children’s Mental Health Services

Bringing ThemSupport at Home

We want the young individuals we help to be aware that we are there to give them a safe place where they can speak out about their feelings, free from judgment and prejudice.

  • Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) is a flexible set of services intended to help children with a mental health disorder.

    Eligibility Criteria

Any child who is both eligible for Medical Assistance and meets specific requirements for CTSS based on the diagnostic assessment conducted during intake.

    • Child under the age of 18 with a diagnosis of an emotional disturbance or, if between the ages of 18 and 20, diagnosed with a mental illness or Serious and Persistent Mental Illness
    • Current Diagnostic Assessment documents of therapeutic services and supports are medically necessary to address an identified disability, functional impairment, or the child’s individualized needs and goals
    • Children who are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible if they meet the qualifications listed above and resources are available to cover their care. MedWay’s Health Care Navigator can also assist families with acquiring health insurance.

    Referral Process

Referrals are accepted from family members, schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, health plans, county staff, and others interested in the well-being of a child. Our staff assesses all recommendations and contacts the referring individuals for additional information as needed. Our intake staff and our clinical supervisor review each referral for appropriateness and whether other services match the child’s condition.

Please complete our online referral form to refer a child to our services.

    Intake Process

Our intake staff meets with the child and family in our office to understand the reason for the referral and if the child qualifies for our services. Our staff members get to know the family and child, their preferences, concerns, and language capacity. They also educate the family on mental health concepts, the services we provide, why a child may or may not need help, and then address any concerns. Our Clinical Supervisor conducts a diagnostic assessment to determine if a child needs CTSS and their functioning levels.

Before starting the intake process, please fill out the intake form here.

    Staff Assignment

Eligible children are matched with a staff member based on preference, language, and cultural compatibility. Interpreters are used as needed.

    Treatment

Treatment plans combine therapy with skill-building activities to improve a child’s functioning. Sessions are conducted individually, with the family, and in group settings either at the child’s home, school or our office. Interventions may include psychotherapy, medication management, skills training, treatment planning, and trauma-informed approaches.

    Care Coordination

To improve our quality of care, we work with other providers or organizations involved in a child and family’s life to coordinate care delivery.

If you want someone you know to have this service, or if you are interested to know more, please reach by calling 763-205-5424 or sending us a message online.
